BM Desk : The European Union (EU) countries imported $3,248 million worth of apparel from various countries worldwide in the first four months of this year (January–April). Almost a quarter of this total, or $8.06 billion, came from Bangladesh alone in the form of textile imports.
This calculation was provided by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) following an analysis of Eurostat data.
Bangladesh is now in second place on the exporter list after its shipments increased by almost 24% over the same time last year.
With an export value of $8.38 billion and a 21 percent growth rate, China leads the pack. $2 billion is exported by India, $1.55 billion by Cambodia, $1.47 billion by Vietnam, and $1.42 billion by Pakistan.
Turkey, which is in third position, has seen a decline in exports, though. Exports from the nation have dropped to $3.1 billion.
