BM Desk : Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most important religious holidays in Islam, was celebrated on Saturday by Muslims all over Bangladesh with great religious zeal and zeal.
At 7:30 am, the capital’s Jatiya Eidgah, located on the grounds of the High Court, hosted the primary assembly. Judges from both branches of the Supreme Court, members of the advisory council, Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, and other dignitaries were in attendance. Thousands of people from all walks of life, including political leaders, senior government officials, diplomats from Muslim countries, and ordinary citizens, joined the prayers.The Eid prayers were conducted by Hafez Maulana Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, while Muhammad Habibur Rahman, the Muazzin of the same mosque, acted as the Qari.
Following the prayers, a special munajat was offered, requesting peace, prosperity, and good health for the nation. The chief adviser also requested prayers from the congregation for the welfare of the country and its citizens. The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) organized the main congregation at the Jatiya Eidgah, with special provisions made for female worshippers. Children were observed accompanying their parents, holding hands and participating in the spiritual gathering.
In addition to the National Eidgah, five Eid congregations took place at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first service commenced at 7am, followed by subsequent ones at 8am, 9am, 10am, and 10:45am.
This year, a total of 1,621 mosques and 118 Eidgahs in Dhaka hosted Eid prayers. Separate congregations were also organized by the Shia and Ahmadiyya communities at eight different locations.
Eid-ul-Azha, which is observed on the 10th of Zilhajj, commemorates the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. On this day, Muslims perform the congregational Eid prayer and carry out Qurbani (animal sacrifice), following the tradition of the Prophet.
In accordance with the lunar calendar and geographical positioning, Bangladesh is celebrating Eid a day later than Saudi Arabia and several other nations.
