B Mirror Desk : Beginning in August of next year, state-owned Atlas Bangladesh Limited, which is listed on the stock exchange, will introduce e-scooters and e-bikes into the electric vehicle (EV) market. The company will introduce four e-scooter and bike models under the ‘ATLAS EV’ brand in accordance with a memorandum of understanding with Zhejiang Luyuan Electric Vehicle Company of China.
These cars will be offered through the company’s own dealer network, with prices ranging from Tk 1 to Tk 150,000 for each model.Md. Ajibar Rahman, managing director of Atlas, stated that imported components will be used for assembly in the initial stage. Some parts will eventually be produced locally.
Atlas hopes to earn a profit with this endeavor, despite having been in a long-term loss. In the fiscal year 2023–2024, they lost Tk 66.5 million. As a result, the business was unable to distribute dividends to stockholders. The first nine months of the current fiscal year saw a 115 percent growth in revenue, but a Tk 2.71 crore loss.
The stock market saw a roughly 10% increase in the company’s share price to Tk 57.30 following this statement.
