Former cabinet secretary ASM Abdul Halim has been appointed as a director and the Chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh house building finance corporation (BHBFC). The Financial institutions department of the ministry of finance, through a notification issued on 8 September, appointed him as the same for the next three years of period. ASM Abdul Halim was born on January 1, 1948 in Islampur of Jamalpur district in a noble muslim family.
As a former EPCS officer who obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the faculty of commerce of Dhaka University and a higher degree in development studies from the University of Birmingham, England, served as an efficient administrator at the field level as Sub-Divisional and Deputy Commissioner and Divisional Commissioner.
After serving as the Secretary of the ministry of jute and textiles, agriculture and Establishment, lastly he served as the cabinet secretary with great reputation. He served in the former anti-corruption bureau and as a director and chairman of various organizations and corporations. During his dynamic professional period, Abdul Halim traveled to most of the countries in Asia and Europe and America to lead various educational and government tours, including attending Geneva Convention.
