B Mirror Reporter: Dr. M. Aslam Alam has been relieved of his duties as chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), the apex regulator of the country’s insurance sector, following the acceptance of his resignation by the government.
The Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance issued an official order in this regard on April 8, signed by Deputy Secretary Iftekharul Alam. The directive was published on the division’s website.
According to the order, the resignation letter submitted by Dr. Aslam Alam has been accepted by the government, and his remaining tenure as IDRA chairman has consequently been cancelled. Relevant authorities have been instructed to take necessary actions in line with the decision.
Earlier, on March 2, Dr. Aslam Alam formally submitted his resignation letter to the secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
