B.Mirror Desk: The three-day 13th Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) begins today, Thursday, at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. Over 200 organizations from 10 countries, including Bangladesh, are participating in this year’s fair. The fair will remain open to visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The 13th edition of the Asian Tourism Fair has been organized with the aim of attracting domestic and international tourists and expanding the business potential of the tourism industry. Mohiuddin Helal, Chairman of the Asian Tourism Fair, shared details regarding the event’s arrangements and participating organizations in a press release yesterday, Wednesday.
According to the organizers’ statement, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, will inaugurate the fair. Fahmida Akhtar, Secretary of the same ministry, along with ambassadors and high commissioners from various countries, are expected to attend the event.
The organizers stated that more than 200 organizations from 10 countries, including Bangladesh, are participating in this year’s fair, which will feature approximately 300 booths. At these booths, various entities—such as hotels, resorts, tour operators, travel agents, airlines, public and private tourism organizations, and foreign embassies—will showcase their tourism products and services.
The fair will feature the ‘Destination Bangladesh Showcase,’ ‘International Tourism Showcase,’ and ‘Bangladesh Tourism Investment Showcase.’ These segments will highlight the country’s various tourist destinations, international tourism potential, and investment opportunities within the tourism sector.
Additionally, the fair includes arrangements for B2B (business-to-business) sessions, seminars, destination presentations, panel discussions, product promotions, and networking opportunities to foster business connections.
Cultural performances from Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Philippines will be held in the evenings throughout the three days of the fair. The organizers hope that through these initiatives, not only will communication among tourism-related entities improve, but various tourist destinations and services can also be more effectively showcased to domestic and international tourists.
