Anti-Corruption debate competition held in Louhajang

Louhajang Correspondent: An anti-corruption debate competition was held in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday to raise public awareness and encourage students to practice integrity and honesty.

The day-long event was organised by the National Committee for the Prevention of Corruption, Louhajang Upazila branch, at the Alhaj Nannu Bepari Auditorium of Holdia Government High School.

Presided over by Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee President Md Kamruzzaman, students from six secondary schools in the upazila participated in the competition. The remaining eight secondary schools did not take part as their first-term examinations are scheduled to begin on June 28.

The debate was conducted in a knockout format. The judging panel comprised Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee General Secretary Nasir Uddin Ahmed Jewel and committee members Salma Parvez and Mizanur Rahman Jhilu.

Kazi’s Pagla Abhay Talukdar High School emerged as the champion, while Brahmangaon Multipurpose High School finished as the runner-up.

The topic of the final debate was: “The main cause of corruption is the lack of the rule of law.”
