Md. Abdul Based Panchagarh Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a campaign on allegations of irregularities in the construction of Tentulia road in Panchagarh.
Today, Tuesday afternoon, a team from the Thakurgaon District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission conducted a special campaign on allegations of irregularities in the construction of uni-blocks and roads from Guabari in Tirnoihat Union to Sipaipara Hajipara in Banglabandha Union.
It is learned that in the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is conducting the construction of a 6,210-meter uni-block road from Guabari in Tirnoihat Union to Hajipara in Sipaipara Union at a cost of 11 crore 98 lakh 75 thousand 192 taka. The work is being done by the contractor company Bhuter Goli Md. of Jhenaidah district town. Mizanur Rahman was selected in the LGEP lottery in the government tender and received the construction work order. Later, he is implementing the work under the owner of Tania Construction in Thakurgaon, Md. Abdus Samad. Locals complain that soil is being mixed with sand and low-quality bricks are being used in the construction work. When the matter is investigated on the spot, soil is being mixed instead of sand in the sub base of the road. Although there is a rule to give half of the sand and half of the sand in the sub base, it is not being followed. In addition, it is seen that soil is being used instead of sand in the sub grade. The report of irregularities in the road came to the attention of the DUK.
In the campaign against corruption in the road construction work, the team including Imran Hossain, Assistant Director of the Thakurgaon District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission, collected samples of road construction materials, sand, stone, cement and soil. Later, the documents were verified and samples were collected at the Tentulia office of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). The samples of the collected road construction materials were taken to the lab for testing. At that time, Aduri Akhter, Data Entry Operator of the ACC’s Panchagarh and Thakurgaon Combined Offices, Constable Abdus Samad, Upazila Executive Engineer Idris Ali Khan and Deputy Assistant Engineer Al Alamin were with him. In this regard,
Upazila Engineer Md. Idris Ali Khan said that a team including the Assistant Director of the Thakurgaon District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission has collected samples of the road construction work on the spot. They will be sent to the lab.
Imran Hossain, Assistant Director of the Thakurgaon District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission, said that a road is being constructed under the Uni Block New Project under the initiative of the LGED of Banglabandha Union of Tentulia Upazila. Locals have complained that low-quality sand and brick dust are being used. In view of such complaints, we went to the scene and collected samples. After sending them to the lab for testing, further action will be taken after reviewing the report.
