After being informed of the situation, mobile internet has been suspended: ICT minister.

According to State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, mobile internet has been temporarily suspended because of the circumstances surrounding the quota reform movement. This information was stated by him on Thursday, July 18.

The state minister said that the mobile internet has been temporarily stopped due to various rumors and unstable situations of the self-interested circles on social media around the students’ movement. No prior announcement was made for this, this decision was taken after understanding the situation.

Palak said, “The government has contacted Facebook, Google, YouTube, TikTok. However, their privacy policy on removing controversial content is not satisfactory. Then these companies will not be exempted if there is a loss of life due to them. They have to set up data centers in Bangladesh and conduct business under the laws of Bangladesh.
