Md. Nazrul Islam, Rajbari District Correspondent: A massive cuttlefish weighing 24 kg was captured from the Padma River in the Andar Manik area of Shivalay, Manikganj. The fish was netted by local fisherman Rafiq Haider. On the evening of Wednesday, May 7, fish merchant Samrat Shahjahan Sheikh purchased the fish directly at Daulatdia ferry ghat for Tk 1,600 per kg, totaling Tk 38,400.
The following morning, Thursday, May 8, a crowd of locals and fishmongers gathered to view the impressive catch at Daulatdia Ferry No. 5 in Goland. Shahjahan Sheikh remarked that such large cuttlefish are rare in the Padma River. The fish was exceptionally fresh, prompting him to buy it at a favorable price. He later sold it online to a London expatriate in Sylhet for Tk 1,700 per kg, amounting to Tk 40,800, resulting in a profit of Tk 2,400.
