FBCCI seeks government’s continued support to tackle economic challenges

BM Desk:

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), has called for the continued cooperation of the government to further accelerate business, trade and investment in the country to face the economic challenges.

FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam made this call in a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F. Rahman at the office of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on Thursday.

Meanwhile, FBCCI Vice President Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarkar, Shami Kaiser, Munir Hossain and directors of FBCCI were present.

FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam expressed the hope that the government’s cooperation in the development of the private sector will continue in the future as in the past years.

FBCCI wants to work to deal with the economic crisis with the cooperation of the government in the future as well, he added.

Meanwhile, FBCCI President drew the attention of the government to ensuring uninterrupted energy supply to industries, controlling inflation and business operating costs, modernizing the tax structure, keeping bank loan interest at a tolerable level, and simplifying purchase orders for export trade.

Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman assured that the government will work more closely with the private sector to improve the business-friendly environment in the country.

Referring to the various steps taken by the government to deal with the economic challenges, he said, the government has already taken plans to continue the economic growth after assuming responsibility. Private sector is being considered seriously in this plan.

He advised FBCCI to work on new and potential markets along with conventional markets for export expansion. At the same time, he wants the cooperation of businessmen to increase the collection of government revenue by expanding the scope of taxes.
