UK-based publishing house Emerald Publishing Limited will provide access to e-journals for business education and engineering research in Bangladesh.
An agreement to this effect was signed on Tuesday with the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC).
The commission’s secretary, Ferdaus Zaman, and Emerald Publishing Limited’s business manager, Nirjhar Mukherjee, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
The agreement signing ceremony was presided over by UGC member Professor Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain.
Professor Sajjad Hossain said that under the agreement, 55 universities in the country will have easy access to Emerald Publishing Limited’s quality e-journals. He expressed hope that this would improve the quality of research in the field of business education and engineering in the country and expand knowledge.
He advised using e-resources of renowned publishing houses in the world, including Emerald Publishing Limited, to advance the quality of higher education and research in the country.
The program was attended by UGC’s Director of Information Management, Communication and Training Department, Sultan Mahmud Bhuinya, Additional Director Tahmina Rahman, Deputy Director of UDL Branch Nusrat Sharitas, and others.
Under the agreement, 60 e-journals of Emerald Publishing Limited will be open to students, teachers and researchers of 55 universities in Bangladesh. Research articles on various subjects including business education, engineering, science and technology, social sciences, humanities, law and health sciences are published in these e-journals.
The agreement is a significant milestone in the field of higher education and research in Bangladesh. It is hoped that it will play a significant role in improving the quality of business education and engineering research in the country.
