BM Report:
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has postponed the written exam for the 45th BCS due to ongoing blockades. This was confirmed in a notification issued on Friday.
The revised date and schedule for the exam will be announced on the commission’s website in due course.
The exam was scheduled to begin on November 27. It was supposed to be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh centers.
Examinees had been demanding that the exam be postponed due to the ongoing blockade by opposition parties ahead of the 12th National Assembly elections.
On June 6, the results of the 45th BCS preliminary exam were published, with 12,789 candidates being declared successful. Two lakh 68,119 candidates had participated in the exam, which was held on May 19 at centers in eight divisions.
On November 30 last year, the PSC issued a notification to recruit 2,309 vacant government posts.
Through this BCS, 524 people will be recruited to general cadre posts, 1,239 people to professional or technical cadre posts, 437 people to general education and 109 people to technical education for government general colleges.
There has been a mixed reaction among the examinees to the postponement of the written exam for the 45th BCS. Some have expressed relief that the exam has been postponed due to the blockade. Others have demanded that a new date for the exam be announced soon.
“We were worried about taking the exam due to the blockade. We are relieved that the exam has been postponed. However, the new date for the exam should be announced as soon as possible,” said one examinee.
“We have worked hard for the exam. The postponement of the exam will waste a lot of time for us. The new date for the exam should be announced as soon as possible,” said another examinee.
PSC said, “There was concern about the examinees’ travel and safety due to the ongoing blockade. So the exam has been postponed. The new date for the exam will be announced in due course.”
