Registered allotment deed can drastically reduce land litigation, says Lands Minister

BM Desk:

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury emphasized the significant reduction of land-related litigation in the country if inherited assets and family properties are registered through distribution deeds.

He made these remarks during the monthly review meeting of the Annual Development Program (ADP) for the financial year 2023-24 held on Wednesday in the meeting room of the Ministry of Lands.

The Minister stressed the importance of raising public awareness about the advantages of registered allotment to avoid family conflicts and protect the rights of sisters in asset distribution.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the Ministry of Lands’ adoption of the ‘Automated Land Administration & Management System (ALAMS)’ program, scheduled to be fully operational after 2025. This initiative aims to digitize land services, enhance efficiency, and provide information-based decision-making in land management.

The ALAMS program is expected to streamline digital procedures, update relevant laws and rules, and bring smart land services closer to citizens by addressing their inquiries effectively. The Minister encouraged initiatives that facilitate the implementation of digital services at the grassroots level.

Land Secretary Khalilur Rahman, Land Reforms Board Chairman Abdus Sabur Mandal along with officials of the Ministry of Lands and related departments/organizations under its jurisdiction were present in the meeting.
