Over 100 thousand individuals participate in Entrepreneurship Week at DIU

BM Report:

The 16th annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) campaign, dedicated to celebrating and empowering entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, concluded with great fervor. The week-long celebration, which took place from November 13th to November 19th, 2023, featured over 200 events across 30 districts in 8 divisions throughout Bangladesh. With the participation of over 78 partner organizations, GEW2023 reached over 100 thousand individuals directly and an additional 3 million people through online connections.

“GEW2023 has been a resounding success, and we are incredibly grateful to all of our partners and supporters who made it possible,” said K M Hasan Ripon, the Global Entrepreneurship Week National Host. “This year’s celebration was truly a collaborative effort, and it is a testament to the power of entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.”

The festivities officially ended on November 19th, 2023, with the closing ceremony hosted by GEN Bangladesh at Daffodil International University. The ceremony was attended by startups, aspiring entrepreneurs, ecosystem builders, mentors, investors, and enthusiastic participants. Professor Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurships of Daffodil International University, was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

“GEW2023 is a vital initiative that is helping to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in Bangladesh,” said Professor Iqbal. “I am confident that the entrepreneurs who participated in this year’s events will go on to make a real impact on our country.”

GEW2023 is part of a global movement that celebrates and supports entrepreneurs in over 170 countries. The goal of GEW is to inspire people to take the plunge and start their own businesses.

In Bangladesh, GEW is organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network Bangladesh (GEN Bangladesh). GEN Bangladesh is a non-profit organization that supports the development of entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

“We are proud to have organized GEW2023 in Bangladesh,” said Hasan Ripon. “This year’s celebration was a testament to the resilience and determination of Bangladeshi entrepreneurs.”
