BTCCI BIDA to pursue Thai investors during BIMSTEC meet

A high profile business delegation from Bangladesh is set to visit Thailand in November during next BIMSTEC meeting there to be attended also by Bangladesh’s Prime Minister. So, the Bangladesh Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI) has requested Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) to make preparation for attracting Thai investors to Bangladesh.

A BTCCI team led by its president Shams Mahmud recently met BIDA Executive Chairman, Lokman Hossain Miah in his office in this regard recently.  Mohsina Yasmin and other BIDA executive members also attended the meeting.

The BTCCI has sought all sorts of supports from BIDA to make its mission to Thailand successful.  It requested BIDA to make all data regarding Investment opportunities in Bangladesh available to investors.

Assuring all supports the BIDA Chief told the BTCCI leaders that Thai investors can invest in Bangladesh as policies here are foreign investment friendly, moreover environmental and cultural similarities exist in both countries.

Miah suggested Bangla-Thai joint ventures in sectors like Agro-processing, Jute and Jute goods, Fisheries, Pharmaceuticals and Tourism & Hospitality Management

Md. Munir Hossain and Md. Salem Sulaiman, Vice Presidents, Khemathat Archawathamrong, Honorary Director,  Mohammad Junaed Ibne Ali, Shahzada A Hamid, Md. Ahsanuzzaman, Brahmanda Pratap Barua, Directors and Md. Nazmul Hossen ACS, Secretary of BTCCI attended the meeting.
