The High Court has ordered Grameen Kalyan, an organisation owned by former interim government Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, to pay Tk 666 crore in taxes claimed by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
A High Court bench led by Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia delivered the verdict on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
Deputy Attorney General Advocate Jamiul Haque Faisal confirmed the development.
According to him, the court has allowed Grameen Kalyan three fiscal years to pay the tax demanded by the NBR.
Grameen Kalyan had earlier filed several separate writ petitions challenging the NBR’s tax claims. The High Court dismissed the rules issued in connection with the petitions and directed the organisation to pay the claimed taxes within three fiscal years.
However, Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun, a lawyer for Dr Muhammad Yunus, said they would appeal against the High Court verdict.
