B Mirror Report: The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) edged higher on Wednesday (May 13, 2026), driven by gains in the insurance sector, although overall market turnover declined.
Despite mixed trading throughout the session, insurance stocks remained strong and helped offset broader selling pressure in other sectors. At the end of the day, 152 companies saw price gains, while 186 declined and 55 remained unchanged.
The DSEX rose 13 points to close at 5,243. The DS30 index increased by 1 point to 1,990, while the DSES index also gained 1 point to settle at 1,065.
However, market turnover dropped significantly to Tk 856.09 crore, down by Tk 245.43 crore from the previous session’s Tk 1,101.52 crore.
Among the top traded stocks were Dominage Steel Building Systems (Tk 29.76 crore), RD Food (Tk 28.06 crore), and Munno Ceramic (Tk 23.95 crore).
In the insurance sector, 41 companies saw price increases, while 16 declined, helping support the index.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed a similar trend, with its general index falling 13 points. Of the 227 traded issues, 95 advanced, 105 declined, and 27 remained unchanged. Total turnover at the CSE rose to Tk 34.63 crore.
