B Mirror Reprt: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved nine development projects involving a total estimated cost of Tk 36,696 crore.
Of the total cost, Tk 36,491 crore will come from government funding, while Tk 205 crore will be financed by implementing agencies.
The approval was given at an ECNEC meeting held on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) at the Secretariat, chaired by the Prime Minister.
Among the approved projects, three are new, five are revised, and one has received an extension of its implementation period.
The projects include the establishment of the Chattogram Muslim Institute Cultural Complex, construction of a multi-storey building for the Public Library Directorate, upgradation of district-level Mother and Child Welfare Centres, development of supporting infrastructure for the Hi-Tech City-2 project, and reconstruction of government child care homes and shelter centres.
Other approved projects include construction of a barrack complex at Savar Cantonment to address soldiers’ accommodation needs, the Chattogram City Outer Ring Road project, Phase-I of the Padma Barrage project, and a gas pipeline construction project to supply fuel to the Mymensingh Combined Cycle Power Plant.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including ministers from the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Finance and Planning, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, and Commerce ministries.
Additionally, ECNEC was informed about two projects costing less than Tk 50 crore, including infrastructure development of Mymensingh Zilla School and construction of an Airmen Barrack Complex at Bangladesh Air Force Base Kurmitola.
