A two-day awareness and outreach program on promoting digital transactions under the “Cashless Bangladesh Initiative,” organized by Bangladesh Bank, was successfully completed in Patuakhali. As part of this nationwide initiative, IFIC Bank PLC led the program as the lead bank. On the first day (Sunday, April 19, 2026), the program began with a colorful rally in the morning, where invited guests and officials from various banks paraded through the city. After the rally, a special seminar was held at the Patuakhali Zilla Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
The seminar was chaired by Mr. A.N.M. Moinul Kabir, Director of the Payment Systems Department-1 at Bangladesh Bank Head Office. The Chief Guest was Mr. Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Head Office. Special guests were Mr. Md. Abul Bashar, Acting Executive Director, Barisal Office, Bangladesh Bank; Mr. Kishore Roy, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle), Patuakhali; Mr. Md. Tamim Nur Islam, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, Patuakhali; and Mr. Syed Mansur Mustafa, Managing Director of IFIC Bank.
During the seminar, speakers discussed various aspects of digital transaction processes in detail and presented a collective action plan. Additionally, at different booths set up at the venue, guests were given hands-on experience of transaction processes using QR code.
Continuing the program, on April 20, 2026 (Monday), a day-long special seminar and outreach activities were held at Patuakhali Science and Technology University. With the participation of teachers, students, and staffs of university, the adoption of cashless, technology-based transactions in daily life was actively encouraged.
