Bangladesh to host international BTKG Expo-2026

B Mirror Report:  Bangladesh is set to host its first large-scale international exhibition focused on the garment and textile sector, the ‘BTKG Expo 2026’, marking a significant milestone for the country’s rapidly growing apparel industry.

The four-day international exhibition will be jointly organized by the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and InfoChain Digital Technology Co. Ltd. It will take place at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka from April 29 to May 2.

According to the organizers, more than 1,000 exhibitors from around 30 countries are expected to participate, including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Taiwan, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The event will feature over 1,200 booths across eight exhibition halls, covering an area of around 20,000 square meters. Organizers say the scale of the event reflects growing global interest in Bangladesh’s textile and garment industry.

The ready-made garment (RMG) sector has long been a key driver of Bangladesh’s economy. According to BGMEA data, the sector generated nearly $39 billion in export earnings during the 2024–25 fiscal year, accounting for over 81 percent of the country’s total exports. It contributes around 12–13 percent to the national GDP and employs more than four million people directly.

Organizers believe the BTKG Expo 2026 will play a vital role in further strengthening the industry by providing local entrepreneurs access to modern technology, advanced machinery, and global industry trends. This is expected to enhance production efficiency, technological development, and international competitiveness.

The exhibition will showcase machinery and technologies across the textile and garment value chain, including textile machinery, dyeing and chemical solutions, knitting and weaving equipment, embroidery machines, cutting and sewing systems, washing and dry-cleaning technology, testing equipment, and various auxiliary tools.

They added that the expo is expected to open new opportunities for technological advancement, international cooperation, and investment in Bangladesh’s textile sector.
