Government revises jet fuel prices upward

B Mirror Report: The government has revised jet fuel prices for March, citing the ongoing war situation in the Middle East, with new rates announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

According to a notification issued by BERC, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been set at Tk 202.29 per litre, including duty and VAT.

For international flights operated by both local and foreign airlines, the price has been fixed at US$1.32 per litre, excluding duty and VAT.

The revised rates will come into effect from 12:00 midnight, the commission said.

The decision was taken under Sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003, following a public hearing and a detailed review of proposals submitted by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL).

Earlier, on March 8, BERC had set the jet fuel price for domestic flights at Tk 112.41 per litre, including duty and VAT, while the rate for international flights was fixed at US$0.7384 per litre, excluding duty and VAT.

Officials said the sharp increase reflects the impact of global market volatility linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
