IMF expresses support for Bangladesh’s new government

B Mirror Report: The International Monetary Fund today reaffirmed its strong commitment to Bangladesh, with Resident Representative Maxym Kryshko pledging full cooperation during a meeting with Md Mostaqur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank.

The courtesy call took place at the central bank, conducted in a professional and collaborative atmosphere, according to a press release. Deputy Governor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman was also present during the high-level meeting.

During the session, Mr. Kryshko congratulated the Governor and formally expressed the IMF’s commitment to maintaining a supportive and productive relationship with Bangladesh Bank. He highlighted the IMF’s positive outlook on the country’s governance and said the organisation looks forward to working with the newly-formed political government.

The meeting follows the formation of the current administration through recent free and fair national elections, marking a robust start to IMF engagement with the new leadership.

Officials said the discussion underscores the growing partnership between the IMF and Bangladesh Bank as they work together toward shared economic objectives.
