DSE warns investors over unusual surge in GBB power shares

B Mirror Report: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has urged investors to exercise caution while trading shares of GBB Power Limited following an unusual surge in the company’s share price.

In a notice published on its website on Thursday, the DSE said it had sought an explanation from the company regarding the recent sharp rise in its share price. In response, GBB Power stated that it was not aware of any undisclosed price-sensitive information (PSI) that could have triggered the increase.

According to DSE data, GBB Power’s share price rose from Tk 8.20 on July 28 to Tk 11.00 on Aug. 4, marking an increase of Tk 2.80, or nearly 34%, within five trading sessions.

The exchange noted that the company’s financial performance does not indicate strong fundamentals. GBB Power reported a loss of Tk 0.35 per share in the 2023–24 financial year. It returned to profit with earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.11 in 2024–25, while EPS stood at Tk 0.09 during the first nine months (July 2025–March 2026) of the current fiscal year.

Due to its weak business performance, the company has not declared any dividends since the 2023–24 financial year.

GBB Power, listed on the stock exchange in 2012, has a paid-up capital of Tk 101.8 crore. Public shareholders, excluding sponsors and directors, hold 67.99% of the company’s shares.
