Hobiganj Association Sylhet Holds Dua and Iftar Mahfil

A dua and iftar mahfil was held under the initiative of Hobiganj Association Sylhet-2026, an organisation formed by residents of Hobiganj working in various professions in Sylhet.

The programme took place on Monday (9 March) at The Luxury Restaurant and Banquet Hall at Jail Road Point in the East Zindabazar area of the city. The event was presided over by the association’s president, Professor Dr Shahnewaz Chowdhury.

Among those present were Vice-Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University Professor Dr Sayem Uddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Metropolitan University Professor Dr Zahirul Haque Shakil, former presidents of the association Bir Muktijoddha Abul Kalam and Abu Md Abdul Hannan, adviser Professor Dr Md Shahab Uddin, vice-presidents Dr Habibullah Selim, Abu Taher Chowdhury, Advocate Irfanuzzaman Chowdhury, Dr Syed Shah Emran, Haji Md Baitullah, Moinul Amin Bulbul, Nazrul Hossain, Aminul Islam, Masud Ahmed and Amir Hossain Sohag, among others.

The programme was moderated by the association’s general secretary and Assistant Professor AKM Mahmudul Alam Maruf.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury. He later discussed the significance of Ramadan and conducted a special prayer.

Speakers at the event said Ramadan is the month of attaining piety and urged everyone to sincerely strive to gain the pleasure of Allah through fasting and devotion. They also called for reflecting the lessons of mercy, blessings and forgiveness of this holy month in all aspects of life to establish peace and harmony in society.
