Robbery and looting at BD Thai Food & Beverage factory

B Mirror Report: The factory of the stock exchange-listed company BD Thai Food & Beverage Limited was the scene of a robbery and theft.

The plant is situated in Dhamrai Upazila’s Boro Narayanpur neighborhood of Amta Union in the district of Dhaka. Through a letter, the company’s officials notified the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) of the situation.

In the letter, BD Thai Food authorities stated that at approximately 2:00 am on the night of the incident, 30 to 40 unidentified masked robbers entered the factory premises. The robbers first tied up and assaulted six to seven on-duty security guards. They then looted various important machinery and goods from the factory.

The list of stolen items includes: a 1400 KVA substation along with all its internal components, rendering the substation completely inoperable; ten high-capacity power motors; power cables, batteries, and various components of three generators; eight copper bars; HT and LT electrical power cables; motors; ACB breakers; copper bars; 12-volt batteries; two computers; vandalism of Thai Plus partitions; damage to cabinets and table lockers; vandalism of a private car; four mobile phones belonging to night guards; and cash amounting to Tk 150,000.

Although the estimated value of the stolen equipment and cash is around Tk 15 million, the overall business loss, including production and marketing disruptions, is irreparable. In connection with the incident, Tariful Islam, Accounts and Admin Officer of BD Thai Food & Beverage Limited’s factory, filed a First Information Report (FIR) with Dhamrai Police Station.

The letter further mentioned that two previous robbery incidents occurred at the same factory in December 2024 and January 2025. Although complaints were filed with the police at that time, no robbers have yet been arrested and the stolen goods have not been recovered. Due to these repeated robberies, it has become almost impossible to keep the company’s production process running. As a result, protecting the interests of all stakeholders of BD Thai Food & Beverage Limited has become extremely difficult.
