Free Fertilizer and Seeds Distributed to 2,500 Farmers

Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent: A total of 2,500 farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila have received free paddy seeds and fertilizer ahead of the upcoming Rabi season. The distribution was carried out under the 2025–26 fiscal year incentive program aimed at increasing the cultivation and production of Boro Ufshi and Boro Hybrid paddy. The seeds and fertilizer were distributed on Monday at 10 a.m. in the courtyard of the Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila Agriculture Office.

Present at the event were Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Hosne Ara, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Nur-e-Nabi, Additional Agriculture Officer (Sadar) Junaid Habib, and Sadar Agriculture Extension Officer Mir Rakibul Islam.

According to the Agriculture Office, a total of 2,500 farmers in the upazila are receiving free seeds and fertilizer to boost the cultivation and production of high-yielding (Ufshi) and hybrid paddy during the upcoming Rabi season. Of them, 2,000 farmers received 5 kg of Boro (Ufshi) paddy seeds each, while 500 farmers received 2 kg of hybrid paddy seeds each.

In addition, each beneficiary farmer received 10 kg of MOP fertilizer and 10 kg of DAP fertilizer. In total, 11 metric tons of paddy seeds and 40 metric tons of fertilizer were distributed free of cost among the farmers.
