Center for Empowering Children launched at SAU

B.Mirror Desk: South Asian University (SAU) in India inaugurated its pioneering centre for child rights— CIRCLE (The Centre for Inspiring the Rights of Children for Learning and Empowerment) under the eminent leadership and guidance of Professor Dr. K. K. Aggarwal, President, South Asian University, on account of International Child Rights Day which is observed on 20 November 2025. The center will operate under the Faculty of Social Sciences, South Asian University as stated by Dr. Dev Nath Pathak, Associate Dean and Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, South Asian University in New Delhi, according to a press release received on Sunday.
The inaugural session began with the opening remarks of Dr. Daksha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS) at South Asian University who stated that under the esteemed guidance of Professor (Dr.) K. K. Aggarwal, President of South Asian University, the centre will serve as a centre of excellence in knowledge generation, advocacy, community outreach, and training on child rights.
Guest of Honor’s address was delivered by Stuti Narain Kacker, Chancellor, Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and Former Chairperson, National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). She emphasized that CIRCLE has been established in its ideal location, as South Asian University itself is an initiative of the SAARC Nations so the centre will become a platform to share, learn, and gain the best experience of child rights and protection of all the eight nations.
The chief guest’s address was delivered by Shri Priyank Kanoongo, Member, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Former Chairperson, National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). He congratulated South Asian University for establishing the Centre on Child Rights and highlighted that there is a requirement to work extensively on child rights and child protection at the international level, the press release added.
