Another Earthquake Shakes Dhaka; Epicenter in Badda

Residents of the capital and surrounding areas felt another earthquake on Saturday evening. The tremor occurred at 6:06 PM, raising concerns after a series of recent seismic activities.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake measured a magnitude of 4.3, with its epicenter located 11 kilometers west of Narsingdi at a depth of 10 kilometers. Meanwhile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude of 3.7 at a depth of 10 kilometers, placing the epicenter 8 kilometers north-northeast of Dhaka.

Local residents reported feeling the tremor across multiple neighborhoods in the capital. Rubaiyat Kabir, an official at the Earthquake Monitoring Center of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, confirmed the event, noting the epicenter was in Badda, Dhaka, and estimated the magnitude at 3.7 on the Richter scale.

Earlier the same day, at 10:36 AM, a smaller earthquake of magnitude 3.3 struck Palash Upazila in Narsingdi. Just the day before, on Friday morning, a more severe earthquake of magnitude 5.7 hit Madhabdi Upazila, 13 kilometers east of Dhaka, claiming the lives of 10 people, including two children.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and follow safety measures, especially given the series of earthquakes in the region over the past few days.
