Agriculture Cluster Admission: One Exam, Nine Universities

Patuakhali Correspondent: The Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, has stated that since the introduction of the agriculture cluster admission system, the suffering of students and parents has significantly decreased. He noted that the main objective of the cluster system was to enable students from all regions of the country to gain university admission through a single examination. Considering the convenience of students and guardians, this unified admission process was launched, and it has now become a model of continued success. Like previous years, the admission process for the 2025–26 academic year will also be conducted under the cluster system, with Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Gazipur taking the lead.

Dr. Islam emphasized that all participating universities are working collectively under the leadership of BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Lutful Hasan to ensure the admission test is conducted properly, transparently, and impartially. He added that through this system, meritorious students from remote areas are now receiving equal opportunities for higher education. The initiative not only ensures fair evaluation of merit but also promotes a national balance in the quality and accessibility of higher education. He called for the cooperation of teachers, officers, and technology experts to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process, adding that this coordinated effort in agricultural education would further strengthen the foundation of national development.

The decision regarding the 2025–26 agricultural cluster admission was confirmed by the PSTU Vice-Chancellor’s Office following a meeting of the Council of Vice-Chancellors held on Friday (October 31) at Bangladesh Agricultural University. The meeting, chaired by BAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, was attended by the Vice-Chancellors of all nine public universities under the agriculture cluster — Bangladesh Agricultural University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Gazipur Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Sylhet Agricultural University, Khulna Agricultural University, Habiganj Agricultural University, and Kurigram Agricultural University. A representative from the University Grants Commission (UGC) was also present.

According to sources, Gazipur Agricultural University will lead the admission process for this academic year, while the 2024–25 session has already been officially concluded. The Vice-Chancellors also agreed to strengthen the role of the cluster system in enhancing agricultural education, research, and innovation, contributing to the nation’s food security and sustainable development. The tentative date of the admission test, along with application procedures and seat distributions, will be finalized at the next meeting scheduled for November 14 at Bangladesh Agricultural University. The Cluster Admission Committee will later make an official announcement with all relevant details.
