BM Desk : The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw significant declines in its indices during the past week (October 26–30), resulting in a drop in market capitalization of Tk 5,796 crore.
According to the DSE weekly market review, the market capitalization at the start of the week was Tk 705,343 crore, which fell to Tk 699,547 crore by the end of the week. This represents a decrease of Tk 5,796 crore or 0.82% over the week.
All major DSE indices also declined during the week. The DSEX, the main index, fell by 27.67 points or 0.54%. The DSE-30 index decreased by 10.34 points or 0.52%, while the DSES index dropped 5.92 points or 0.54%.
Despite the decline in indices, trading volume increased. Total turnover at DSE for the week reached Tk 2,286.86 crore, up from Tk 2,138.71 crore in the previous week.
The average daily turnover rose 6.93%, reaching Tk 457.37 crore per trading day, compared to Tk 427.74 crore per day in the preceding week.
