Kushtia District Correspondent: A fruitful meeting was held between Kushtia Municipality and the World Bank delegation. The meeting was held under the overall management of Kushtia Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) and Kushtia Municipality Administrator Mizanur Rahman.

The delegation included — Dr. Kwabena Amamkwa-Ayeh, Task Team Leader, RUTDP, World Bank; Ms. Sochi Suzuki, Disaster Management Specialist, World Bank; Mr. Shahab Uddin, Engineer (Consultant), World Bank; Dr. Monir Hossain, Environmental Specialist (Consultant), World Bank; and Mr. Ahmed Nawaz, Acting Team Leader, DSM Consultant, RUTDP, LGED. Project Director, RUTDP and Additional Chief Engineer, LGED Mr. Md. Manzoor Ali and officials of Kushtia Municipality.

He played a key role in the successful negotiations on financing for infrastructure development needed to increase the municipality’s revenue. The benefits of the negotiations are already starting to be seen. Kushtia Municipality has confirmed a funding commitment of Tk 500 crore, which could increase to Tk 800 crore.
