Bangladeshi expatriates employed across various countries sent $2.087 billion in remittances to their home country during the first 27 days of August.
This data was disclosed in the most recent report from Bangladesh Bank on Thursday (August 28).
Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, stated that the remittances totaling $2.087 billion were received in the initial 27 days of August, representing an increase of $116 million compared to the same timeframe last year (August 27, 2024). Last year’s remittance figure for this period was $197.1 million.
Furthermore, from July to August 27, the first month of the current 2025-26 fiscal year, remittances amounted to $4.565 billion, compared to $3.885 billion during the previous 2024-25 fiscal year. This indicates an increase of $680 million over the same period last fiscal year, reflecting a growth rate of 17.5 percent.
According to Bangladesh Bank data, remittances to the country in January this year were $2.18 billion 5.23 billion. Remittances to the country in February were $2.52 billion 7.64 billion, in March $3.29 billion 5.63 billion, in April $2.75 billion 2.33 billion, in May $2.96 billion 9.57 billion, in June $2.82 billion 1.25 billion, and in July $2.47 billion 7.91 billion.
