US Trade Envoy, FBCCI Administrator Discuss Bilateral Trade Deal

This morning, US Commercial Counselor (Trade) Paul G. Frost met with Md. Hafizur Rahman, the Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), at the FBCCI office located in Motijheel.

During their discussion, Hafizur Rahman suggested the possibility of establishing a trade agreement between Bangladesh and the United States, emphasizing the necessity to enhance bilateral trade in light of increasing global competition. The conversation centered on improving trade relations, broadening market access, and reinforcing collaboration between the two nations.

Hafizur Rahman pointed out the enduring trade connection with the U.S., mentioning that it continues to be one of the largest markets for Bangladeshi exports, especially in the ready-made garments sector. He warned that to fully capitalize on trade opportunities and supply chain benefits, prompt action on a formal agreement is essential.

Paul G. Frost underscored the significance of developing stronger business networks and urged Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to engage in the forthcoming investment summit in the United States. He also stressed the importance of enhancing broader cooperation in addition to trade.

Hafizur Rahman conveyed his gratitude to the U.S. government for lowering reciprocal tariffs on Bangladeshi goods.
