Imran Jhenaidah Correspondent : A workshop took place in Jhenaidah aimed at enhancing awareness regarding suicide prevention. Various representatives from volunteer, social, and NGO organizations within the district attended the workshop.
The event occurred on Wednesday (July 16) at 11 am in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner ABM Khalid Hossain Siddiqui, the workshop was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal.
The session featured addresses from District Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department Rathindra Nath Roy, Superintendent of Sadar Hospital Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner SM Shadman ul Alam, and Press Club President Asif Iqbal Kajal.
Participants included NGO workers, volunteers, journalists, and representatives from various social organizations operating in different sectors of the district.
During the workshop, speakers elaborated on several guidelines for suicide prevention, advocating for increased focus on school campaigns and public awareness initiatives.
They emphasized that raising awareness is crucial in preventing suicide. Additionally, they highlighted the need to combat social crimes, criminal behaviors, and drug abuse. There should also be a focus on enhancing family relationships, expanding educational opportunities, and adhering to religious teachings. Suicide is often a reflection of underlying mental health issues. The speakers urged individuals from all segments of society to actively engage in efforts to prevent suicide.
