B MirrorDesk : In accordance with the government’s directive to keep offices operational on Saturdays, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) will be open for trading on the upcoming two Saturdays prior to the Eid holiday. Consequently, the stock market will function on 17 May and 24 May, which are typically designated as weekly holidays, as stated in a notice released on the DSE website today (12 May).
Trading and official operations will proceed as usual on these Saturdays. Furthermore, the stock market will observe a ten-day closure during the Eid-ul-Adha holiday, coinciding with the shutdown of government offices and banks as per government regulations.
The DSE announcement indicated that 11 and 12 June have been declared as holidays, thus extending the Eid-ul-Adha break. Accordingly, the exchange will be closed from 5 June to 14 June for the Eid festivities, with trading and office activities set to resume on 15 June as per the regular timetable. Additionally, the stock market previously experienced a nine-day closure during the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, which was extended by an extra day off, resulting in no trading from 30 March to 3 April.
This included the government-mandated holiday on 3 April and the regular weekly closures on Friday and Saturday, leading to a consecutive nine-day halt in trading.
