Indian Citizens Accused of Illegally Collecting Bangladeshi NI Cards

Md. Abdul Based Panchagarh Correspondent : A sensational allegation has been made in Boda Upazila of Panchagarh that two Indian citizens have collected national identity cards by hiding their identities as Bangladeshis. Investigation revealed that Bhabendra Nath Roy Pradhan and Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan have different addresses in India and Bangladesh as per their identities.

According to their Indian Aadhaar and Election Commission identity cards, their permanent address is in West Magurmari village of Dhupguri police station in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal state, India. Bhabendra Nath Roy Pradhan’s Aadhaar number: 441703954394, Election Commission identity card number: WB/03/015/222490 and Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan’s Aadhaar number: 646725809434, Election Commission identity card number: JLG3534427.

They have obtained Bangladeshi citizenship by creating their birth certificates by hiding their Indian citizenship and by forging their national identity cards. According to the Bangladeshi national identity cards created through forgery, their address is shown as Jagir Para in Mariya Union of Boda Upazila of Panchagarh district. Bhabendra Nath Roy Pradhan’s Bangladeshi national identity card number: 1046746226, birth registration number: 19547712580013972 and Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan’s Bangladeshi national identity card number: 7379113074, birth registration number: 1957712580014020. Bajendra Nath’s son Hiten Roy Pradhan is working in the Indian paramilitary force called Assam Rifles.

Although both of them are Indian citizens, they have created fake citizenship certificates, holding tax papers, and inheritance certificates by pretending to be permanent residents of Jagir Para area of Mariya Bamanhat Union of Boda Upazila. With these documents, the Boda Upazila Election Office completed all its activities and issued the national identity card on December 11 last year. The accused not only obtained the national identity card through fraud, but also obtained an inheritance certificate from Tepriganj Union of Debiganj Upazila using that identity. In addition, they applied for a Bangladeshi passport and collected a SIM card of a mobile operator.

Meanwhile, on-site visits to the Jagirpara area of Mareya Union of Boda Upazila and talking to the locals revealed that no one named Bhabendra Nath Roy Pradhan and Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan lives in that area. The locals also said that they have never seen or known any person with such a name. Durlav Chandra, a sixty-year-old from Jagirpara village, said, “I was studying in class seven at the time of independence. To my knowledge, there was no person named Bhabendra Nath or Bajendra Nath in this area before.

There is still no one with this name.” Abdur Razzak of the same village said, “There is no one named Bhabendra Nath and Bajendra Nath in our Jagir Para area. They know very well how they became citizens of this area with their addresses.” Meanwhile, the local UP member has to sign as a verifier in the application for a national identity card. But Mofiz Uddin, a member of Ward No. 7 of Madreya Union, said that there is no signature on the national identity cards of Bhabendra Nath and Bajendra Nath. He said, “I do not know these people, I have never seen them. I have no idea who made the national identity cards or how they made them. I did not give any signature.

” Meanwhile, an investigation at Madreya Bamanhat Union Parishad based on the birth registration number and holding number mentioned in the national identity card application in Bangladesh showed that the birth registration number mentioned by Bhabendra Nath and Bajendra Nath belongs to another person. In addition, the holding number used in the national identity card application also has no match in reality.

When an Indian national, Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan, was tried to contact him on his mobile phone in the name of a journalist, he reacted angrily. He said, “Whoever you are, you have no right to call me directly.” When a Grameenphone number registered in the name of Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan was contacted, the call was answered by a person named Mostafa from Kaderer Mor area of Debiganj upazila. When asked about Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan, he said, “I have his number. I am looking after a case of his in the court.”

In this regard, the chairman of the Bamanhat Union of Madheya, Abu Ansar Md. Rezaul Karim, said that they had obtained national identity cards from the Jagir Para area of Bamanhat Union through forgery. After learning about this matter, I informed the Upazila Executive Officer, Upazila Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner in writing to investigate the matter and cancel their national identity cards.

Boda Upazila Election Officer Md. Takdir Ali Sarkar said that after receiving the application for cancellation of national identity cards from the UP Chairman on February 10, he forwarded the application to the Election Commission Secretariat for cancellation of Bhabendra Nath Roy Pradhan and Bajendra Nath Roy Pradhan. In this regard, Boda Upazila Election Officer Takdir Ali Sarkar said on mobile phone that when they applied for national identity cards, all the documents were in order. Later, when the chairman of the Madreya Union informed about the fraud, a letter was sent to the Election Commission to cancel their national identity cards. Their national identity cards will be canceled subject to investigation.

Panchagarh Boda Upazila Executive Officer Md. Shahriar Nazir said, I received such a complaint from the chairman of the Madreya Bamanhat Union. I immediately sent it to the Upazila Election Officer to take necessary action and he has already sent it to the Election Commission Secretariat for cancellation.

The conscious people of the district think that such a situation is a big signal for national security. In that case, such incidents highlight the weakness of Bangladesh’s sovereignty and security system
