H.M. Imran, Jhenaidah: Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman said that fascists will never be allowed to establish a base in Bangladesh again, “This Bangladesh was standing on ruins. The way Abu Sayeed stood in front of the police with a heavy heart and sacrificed his life paved the way for our democracy. The way he was killed in police firing while giving water to his thirsty comrades, we are awake in Bangladesh like independent guards, carrying their dreams.”

He said, “We will not allow this Bangladesh to become a haven for fascists anymore. We will not allow any more vote-rigging to take place, and this is our pledge that voting will never be held at night again. We have asked for your support and cooperation in implementing that pledge. Everyone, wherever they are, must fulfill their duty like vigilant guards.”

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar gathering organized by the civil society at the Kabirpur Secondary School grounds of Shailkupa Municipality in Jhenaidah on Friday (March 21) afternoon.

Attorney General Asaduzzaman said, “For the first time in the history of Bangladesh, the leadership of a ruling party has fled Bangladesh with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, leaving all his leaders and activists unprotected and putting them in danger, along with all his family and relatives.” He said, “Many leaders of the Awami League have been arrested. Many leaders have started saying that they will never form the Awami League again. Because many leaders of the Awami League in the past 16 years have not received their share of halwa and roti. And the leaders of the Sheikh family have become the owners of thousands of crores of taka. Everyone has safely fled this country before August 5th.”

Stating that none of the advisors to the interim government are involved in corruption, the Attorney General said, “With the momentum we have taken, we can guarantee that no one will be able to point a finger of corruption against even a single advisor.”

He further said, “We have traveled with officials at various levels of administration in every district in Bangladesh, from Teknaf to Tentulia, from Rupsa to Pathuria, and said that we want to pass on a social system to Bangladesh that will be a livable social system for the next generation. We have said that we do not want to spend the last days of our lives as cowards in the shadow of a post-modern man.”

The Iftar Mahfil was presided over by Shailkupa Nagorik Samaj President Abdul Majid and moderated by General Secretary Shafiuddin Biswas. Upazila BNP President Abul Hossain, General Secretary Humayun Babar Firoz, and various social, political, teaching community, journalists and people from different classes and professions of the district and upazila were present.
