Wages fell in the service-agricultural sector, unchanged in industry

Point-to-point, the nation’s overall inflation rate dropped to 9.32% in February of this year. Nonetheless, the wage rate has increased to 8.12% during this time. which last month was 8.16 percent. Income from expenditures has consequently declined.

On Thursday, March 6, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released updated Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for February, which painted this picture. The consumer’s purchasing power declines if the wage index does not rise in line with inflation.

In February of this year, the wage rate in the agricultural sector has decreased to 8.34 percent, which was 8.41 percent last month. Similarly, the wage index in the service sector has decreased to 8.37 percent in February, which was 8.44 percent last month. On the other hand, the wage index in the industrial sector has decreased to 7.80 percent in February, which was the same as last month.

On the other hand, the inflation rate in rural areas is higher than in urban areas, which is 9.51 percent. However, the inflation rate in the general sector in urban areas is 9.34 percent. However, inflation has decreased in rural and urban areas since last month. The inflation rate in urban areas in January was 9.89 percent, while in rural areas it was 10.18 percent.
