The United States now tops the list of remittance-sending countries. The country has surpassed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the list of countries that send the most expatriate income. After the country’s political change on August 5, the flow of expatriate income from the United States has continued.

Bangladesh Bank has recently released a detailed report on expatriate income for the three months from September to November 2024-25.

The Bangladesh Bank report shows that about 1.4 billion US dollars of expatriate income came from the United States in the three months of September to November in 2024. The United Arab Emirates or UAE, which is in second place on the list, received 990 million dollars of expatriate income during this period.

It says that the top ten countries in terms of sending expatriate income are Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, Italy, Oman, Qatar and Singapore, respectively.

According to Bangladesh Bank data, 293.4 million dollars of expatriate income came from the United States last August. Then it increased to about 390 million dollars in September. In a month, the country’s expatriate income grew by more than 34 percent. In October, it increased further to $500 million. Compared to September, the US’s expatriate income grew by more than 28 percent in October. In November, it increased to $511 million.

According to the Central Bank, the United Arab Emirates was the country sending the highest expatriate income to the country in August as well. In that month, the country’s expatriate income was $340 million, which was $50 million more than the United States. In September, the United States overtook the UAE in expatriate income. In September, the UAE’s expatriate income was $360 million. In the same month, the United States received $390 million. Then, the expatriate income from the United Arab Emirates decreased in October and November. In October, the country received $330 million. In November, it decreased further to $290 million.
