Special Correspondent: The country’s capital market witnessed a decline in the index this week. As a result, the market capitalization of the country’s main capital market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), decreased by nearly Tk. 12,000 crore in a week.
According to the information, the market capitalization of the DSE decreased by 1.77 percent or Tk. 11,959 crore in a week. On the last working day of this week, the market capitalization of the DSE stood at Tk. 6,62,719 crore. On the last working day of the previous week, this capital was Tk. 6,74,678 crore.
All the DSE indices also decreased this week. The main price index, DSEX, decreased by 157.75 points or 2.95 percent. In addition, the DSE-30 index decreased by 67.36 points or 3.39 percent. And the DSES index fell by 37.96 points or 3.19 percent.
Along with the decline in the index, the volume of transactions also decreased on the DSE. The total transactions on the DSE during the week were 2,329.2 million taka. The total transactions in the previous week were 2,770.1 million taka. The transactions decreased by 4,410.8 million taka in a week.
Meanwhile, the average transactions per working day decreased by 882.2 million taka or 15.92 percent. The average transactions on the DSE during the current week were 4,658 million taka. The average daily transactions in the previous week were 5,542 million taka.
Shares and mutual fund units of 382 companies were traded on the DSE during the week. Of these, the prices of 72 companies increased, 287 decreased and the share prices of 23 companies remained unchanged.
