The government is trying to control the prices of daily commodities by increasing the supply to the market by importing products with supervision at the field level, said Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin.
He said this at the opening ceremony of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh’s (TCB) potato sale program on mobile trucks in the capital’s caravan market on Wednesday.
Sheikh Bashiruddin said that due to the weakness of the supply system, the prices of daily commodities are not decreasing. For this, all measures are being taken to increase the supply. The reduction in duty on some products has led to a slight reduction in prices. Consumer rights have been directed to work more vigorously to fix supply.
He said the government is aware of the sufferings of the people. In the meantime rice adamani has started. About 20 crore eggs have been allowed to be imported. Working extensively with oil. Keeping Ramadan in front, all parties are working together.
The trade advisor said, India-Pakistan or China will not meet in terms of imports. Bangladesh has no commercial tension with any country. Trade liberalization will continue.
He said, to give relief to the consumers, the sale of potatoes by trucks has started at 50 places in Dhaka city. Potatoes are being sold to consumers at the rate of Tk 40 per 3 kg per person. This activity will continue until the situation returns to normal. Scope will be extended if necessary.
