Continuous heavy rains and water from Muhuri and Feni rivers have flooded 8 upazilas of Noakhali. 2.2 million people are trapped in water. Out of this, 20 thousand people have settled in 345 shelters. If the rain continues, the condition of Noakhali may get worse.
According to the sources of the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, 87 unions have been affected by the flood in the district. At least 2.2 million people are trapped in water. 345 shelters have been set up. About 10,000 people have taken shelter. 88 medical teams have already been formed.

Various upazilas of the district have been visited on the ground, most of the low lying areas have been flooded. The residents of these upazilas have suffered endlessly. Agricultural land is submerged in rain water. The fish tank has been washed away. Roads are submerged, water is also entering houses. The people of Noakhali have to suffer due to long-term widespread flooding due to poor drainage system.
According to the Meteorological Office, the total rainfall recorded by Maizdi Court, Noakhali office from 6 pm on Tuesday to 6 pm on Wednesday is 144 mm. There is a risk of rain overnight.
Feni Sadar, Parashuram, Phulghazi, Daganbhuana and Chagalnaya upazilas were affected by heavy rains and severe floods in India’s upstream waters. One after another the townships are drowning as the water enters at high speed through the breached flood control dams of the Muhuri, Kahua and Ceylon rivers. As the situation worsened, more than three and a half lakh people in the district were left without electricity. Also they have suffered greatly as all communication has been cut off.
According to the related sources, all the areas of Parashuram, Fulgazi and Chagalnaya upazilas of the district were cut off from Monday (August 19) night due to the damage of the lines due to flood water. Due to the deterioration of the flood situation, electricity connection was completely cut off in some areas of Sonagazi and Daganbhunya upazilas on Tuesday morning. At the same time, due to waterlogging in Feni town due to heavy rain, electricity connection has been stopped since noon.
