624 sacks of Indian sugar seized in Rupganj

In a raid conducted on Saturday afternoon in Nayanagar of Rupganj Upazila, Narayanganj district, authorities seized 624 sacks of Indian sugar from Dewan Enterprises. Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Mohor, Senior Assistant Commissioner Robin Mia led the operation.

Narayanganj Officials stated that the seized sugar consisted of 480 sacks with original Indian brand packaging and 144 sacks with what appeared to be fresh brand stickers. The total market value of the confiscated sugar is estimated to be Tk. 39,00,000.

Under the Agricultural Marketing Act 2018, Dewan Enterprises has been fined Tk. 1,00,000 for illegally possessing and marketing Indian sugar. The seized goods have been handed over to the local ward councilor for auction.

Major Anabil Imam, Deputy Commissioner of RAB-11, and Agricultural Marketing Officer Atiqul Islam were present during the operation, along with a police team.
