B Mirror report: The first session of the 13th National Parliament has begun. The session started on Thursday after 11:00 AM.
After the recitation of the Holy Quran, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman began his speech shortly before 11:15 AM.
Today is the public aspiration; the parliament marks the beginning of the march of democracy: Salahuddin.
The Speaker’s seat in the parliament chamber remains vacant. To determine party strategies for today’s session, both government and opposition MPs held separate parliamentary party meetings yesterday, Wednesday.
However, it is still unclear who will preside over the opening meeting and who will be appointed as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the new parliament.
At yesterday’s meeting, the Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarek Rahman indicated that, according to his party’s position, the July Charter would be implemented with a note of dissent (objection).
On the other hand, according to the positions of Jamaat and NCP, opposition members want the July Charter, which was passed in a referendum, to be implemented exactly as it is.
The main disagreements between the two sides have arisen over the structure of the caretaker government system, the method of forming the upper house of parliament, and the process for appointing several constitutional institutions.
