World Environment Day celebrated in Mymensingh

Raihan Mymensingh Correspondent : Keeping in mind the theme ‘No more plastic pollution, it’s time to stop it’, a colorful rally, discussion meeting, tree plantation program and award distribution ceremony were organized by the Mymensingh Department of Environment on the occasion of World Environment Day-2025.

A colorful rally was held on the occasion of World Environment Day-2025 in front of the Divisional Commissioner’s office on June 25 at 10 am. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the Mymensingh City Corporation Auditorium.

Mokhtar Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner, Mymensingh, was present as the chief guest of the discussion. He said that it is not possible to completely ban plastic but rather its use can be reduced.

Ataul Kibria, DIG, Mymensingh Range; Kazi Akhtar ul Alam, Superintendent of Police, Mymensingh were present as special guests.

The main speaker of the discussion was Mr. Farid Ahmed (Joint Secretary), Director General, National Academy of Primary Education (NEAP), Mymensingh. He discussed in detail about the harmful effects of polythene.

The discussion was chaired by Mufidul Alam, Deputy Commissioner, Mymensingh. In his closing remarks, he said that it is possible to prevent environmental pollution only through the hands of the young generation.

The welcome speech at the discussion was delivered by Mejbabul Alam, Deputy Director, Department of Environment, Mymensingh.

At the end of the discussion, the guests presented awards to the students. Representatives of various government departments of Mymensingh, representatives of print and electronic media, and concerned individuals were also present.
