A Based Panchagarh Correspondent: World Bank Country Director, Valentine Achancho, visited the Partner Field School in Tentulia, Panchagarh.
Last Tuesday afternoon, World Bank Country Director, Valentine Achancho, visited the Partner Field School located at the house of freedom fighter Shafiqul Islam in Bochagach village of Sadar, Tentulia upazila. It is known that this Partner Field School is being run under the Program on Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNERS) program. Each school has a team of 25 farmers and agriculturists. They receive training for 3 hours a day, for a total of ten days. The aim of the training is to make farmers smart and skilled in agricultural work.
In addition, training was provided on modern crop cultivation, balanced fertilizer management and water management in rice cultivation, encouraging the use of organic pesticides instead of chemical pesticides, giving importance to nutrition, creating farmer entrepreneurs, and managing farmer service centers.
World Bank Country Director Valentine Achancho visited the program. During the school visit, he wanted to know about the success stories of the farmers and farmers present and what kind of cooperation they would need in the future. The farmers and farmers present wanted permanent seed banks to be established and modern advanced machinery to be provided in the agricultural sector. At this time, David Dolan,
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Abul Kalam Azad, Program Coordinator Partner Program, Panchagarh Agricultural Extension Department Deputy Director Abdul Matin and other World Bank officials were present. Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agriculturist Tamanna Ferdous and Agricultural Extension Officer, Agriculturist Md. Jiban Islam and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers showed the demonstration plots prepared by the beneficiaries of the school to the inspection team including the World Bank Country Director. The activities of this project will start in July 2023 and will continue till June 2028.
