Workshop on Plastic Alternatives Held in Mymensingh

Raihan Mymensingh Correspondent: On Monday at 10 a.m., a workshop on the use of plastic alternatives was held in Mymensingh as part of the Youth Festival 2025 celebration. The event was organized by the Department of Environment, Divisional Office, Mymensingh.

Sheikh Mohammad Nazmul Huda, Director of the Department of Environment (DoE), Mymensingh Division, attended the event as the chief guest. The workshop was presided over by Nur Kutub Alam Siddique, Deputy Director of the Divisional Office. The event was moderated by Mahbubul Islam, Inspector of the District Office.

In her welcome speech, Sabikun Nahar, Assistant Director of the Divisional Office, gave a detailed presentation on alternatives to plastic, including eco-friendly kitchenware and furniture.

Assistant Director Al Mahmud discussed the harmful effects of plastic in detail, while Special Guest Abdullah Al Noor, Assistant Commissioner of the Mymensingh Divisional Office, addressed the dangers of polythene use and emphasized the need for viable alternatives.

Director Nazmul Huda stressed, “Now is the time to think seriously about alternatives to plastic, or it will soon become a major threat to us.”

Representatives from various organizations and journalists were also present. An open discussion was held, focusing on practical and sustainable alternatives to plastic use.
