Workshop on Neonatal & Pediatric Critical Care Held at Universal Medical College Hospital

A two-day scientific workshop was held jointly by Universal Medical College Hospital in Mohakhali, the capital, and the Bangladesh Academy of Pediatric and Neonatal Critical Care.

In this two-day workshop organized at the Medical College Auditorium on January 23 and 24, 2026, more than fifty pediatric critical care, neonatal and pediatric specialist doctors from various institutions across the country discussed the modern treatment of critically ill children and newborns with complex pediatric diseases.

As a result of this workshop, critically ill infants, premature infants, infants of diabetic and hypertensive mothers, and at-risk newborns and children across the country will receive immediate life-saving treatment through these trained doctors, and it is expected that the country’s child mortality rate will further decrease.

Under the overall supervision of Professor Dr. Md. Monir Hossain, a renowned neonatologist and pediatrician and Chief Consultant of Universal Medical College Hospital, the workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Mahfuza Shirin, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Professor Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Dr. Md. Nurul Akhtar Hasan Bipul, Dr. Abu Talha, Dr. Mohammad Mashiur Rahman Ripon, Dr. Mohammad Akhter Hossain Masud and Dr. Nurun Nahar, along with 9 renowned pediatric critical care and neonatologists from the country. The workshop was coordinated by Farzana Azad, the hospital’s nursing coordinator.

Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital, delivered the closing speech at the workshop and presented the “Certificate of Attendance” to the pediatricians from all over the country. The workshop was supported by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.
