Jhenaidah Representative: A van driver named Chaitanya Pal (37) was killed after being hit by a bus in Elangi of Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenaidah. The accident took place on Kaliganj-Jivannagar road on Sunday morning. The deceased Chaitanya Pal is the son of Karthik Pal of Fazilpur village of Elangi union of the upazila.
According to locals, Chaitanya Pal was going to Kotchandpur with bananas from his village in the morning. On the way, a bus coming from the opposite direction hit the van when it reached the field of Elangi village. Driver Chaitanyapal was thrown from the van and the bus ran over him. He died on the spot.
Kotchandpur police station OC Kabir Hossain Matbar said that the police were sent there after receiving the news of the accident. Preparations are underway to recover the dead body and send it for post-mortem.
